PROFIBUS provides a free, completely reworked, one-day, web-based, introductory training programme via the Profibus Association website.
Employees of companies engaged in Profibus development as well as manufacturers, system integrators and end users may find it a useful continuing education option.
The training is based on system building blocks and is divided into six sections, each of which addresses fundamental aspects of the Profibus technology. They include the master-slave principle, transmission technology, the protocol architecture and the Profibus DP communication protocol.
It provides practical information about device installation, advising where terminating resistors should be placed and when a repeater must be used. In the engineering chapter the user learns how to manage PA devices and how to put a system into operation using engineering tools.
Learning is self-directed and participants are tested at the end. The central topic of Profibus PA has also been incorporated. In addition to clarifying the PA devices’ application profile, the universal automation of a hybrid system is demonstrated in detail.
