ENDRESS+Hauser has released the RMS621 Energy Manager, specifically developed for industrial water and steam energy calculations.

Plug-in expansion cards enable the number of inputs and outputs on the RMS621 Energy Manager to be exactly matched to the optimum solution required by a specific application.
By integrating expansion cards into the base unit, users can manage up to three independent applications from a single unit. The system allows expansion cards to be retrofitted even while the RMS621 is in operation, maximising plant uptime.
Up to 10 analogue, digital and temperature process value inputs can be accepted. These can be independently configured, and/or assigned to more than one application in the unit.
Measured values and calculated results can be retransmitted using 2-14 analogue or digital outputs, or via the built-in RS232 interface. Up to seven relays are available for alarm setpoint condition monitoring.
IAPWS-IF97 (the latest international benchmark for industrial heat calculation) allows energy values to be calculated from flow, pressure and temperature inputs.
The RMS621 Energy Manager is a DIN rail-mounted unit. It can be operated using either a built-in serial interface with the ReadWin software tool, or a back-illuminated dot matrix display and soft keys.
The back-illumination can change colour from blue to red to help highlight alarm setpoint conditions, sensor faults or process overrange values.
A remote, panel-mounted display, providing the same functionality as the integrated display and soft keys, is also available.
Setting up the RMS621 is easy and is enhanced by on-line help and a quick set-up feature.
