New Cerabar S Pressure Transmitter with Foundation Fieldbus
+ Hauser has introduced the new Cerabar S pressure transmitter with Foundation Fieldbus. Foundation Fieldbus is modelled on the concept that all devices can access all data from other devices connected to the bus network. This information is processed and managed using advanced programming in the form of Function blocks.
With Endress + Hauser’s new Cerabar S, therefore, complete control of the process can be programmed in the pressure transmitter by linking a set of Function Blocks. Instead of merely providing a pressure measurement at the output, the Cerabar S can be transformed into a full PID controller with the ability to measure pressure as well as provide control for a process.
Since Foundation Fieldbus does not require the data to be transmitted to a central controller for analysis, the new Cerabar S with Foundation Fieldbus therefore monitors process efficiency with far greater speed and accuracy. In critical applications such as toxic processes, it is important to guarantee the exact response time for data availability. Since the new Cerabar S acquires the measurement and processes it independently of other data traffic on the bus network, the response time is two to three times faster, making it the preferred configuration for critical control or safety interlocks.
Function blocks available in the Cerabar S are AI - Analogue input , AO – Analogue Output, PID - Control, AAL - Analogue Alarm Limit, AR – Arithmetic functions, DO – Discreet output, IS – Input Selector and SC – Sensor Characterisation .
