THE Micropilot M microwave level measuring device from Endress+Hauser has been approved by Standards Association Australia (SAA) for use in EEX ia IIC hazardous areas.
The first two-wire microwave instrument to achieve an SAA safety rating, the loop-powered unit has been approved suitable for use in oil and gas hazardous applications including petroleum storage tanks, and is also ideal for difficult non-hazardous level measurements.
At the same time the company received Standards Association Australia approval for Micropilot M units to be used in Profibus and Foundation fieldbus networks. These are the first devices to be accredited for hazardous areas using fieldbus communciation.
Speaking shortly after the approvals were announced, Endress+Hauser Australia managing director John Immelman said the Standards Association Australia rating meant the Micropilot M now had an international hazardous-area approval rating and he looked forward to expanding the market of this unit.
"The Micropilot M is proving itself a rugged and cost-effective non-contact, non-intrusive level measuring device," he said.
