Aquatic clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter
ENDRESS+Hauser has developed a clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter for the water and wastewater industries. The Prosonic Flow 91W flowmeter is the most recent addition to the company's proven Proline Prosonic Flow family and is designed to meet the requirements for hot and cold water applications.

It can be installed on all pipe systems used for water services including mild steel, stainless steel, ductile iron, PVC, PE and GRP, among others.
Since the flowmeter is strapped to the outside of the piping, the need for shutting the process, cutting, and flanging the pipe is removed, generating huge savings in time and material.
Unlike conventional water flowmeters, the same model of 91W can be used over a wide range of pipe diameters, from DN100 to DN400, which is typical for all ultrasonic flowmeters, with the consequent benefit of lower inventories of spares.
In designing the Prosonic Flow 91W, Endress+Hauser engineers focused on the water industry's core requirements and developed a highly optimised and cost-effective flowmeter. The company estimates a 15 to 20 per cent price advantage for the 91W compared with other models in the market.
The Prosonic Flow 91W's comprehensive software tooling package consists of the sizing software - Applicator Sizing; the plant asset management tool - FieldCare, based on FDT (field device tool) technology; and the test and simulation tool - FieldCheck.
Applicator Sizing provides the actual sensor spacing based on the specific application data. This feature allows off-site preparation of the mechanical installation.
The spacing information is provided to the installer who just needs to mount the sensor installation set accordingly. The mounting ruler supports a precise sensor position resulting in accurate flow measurement. Fitting, retrofitting and replacement is thus a quick and simple process.
FieldCare is Endress+Hauser's FDT-based plant asset management tool. It offers remote configuration and status monitoring of all intelligent field devices including Prosonic Flow 91W via the HART interface.
Prosonic Flow 91W is a complete flow solution with easy installation and a powerful tooling package, specifically adapted for the water industry.
Importantly, it utilises the high-accuracy transition time technology, is non-invasive, and cost effective.
Given its simple setup, accuracy and reliability, transition time technology is taking over as the measurement of choice from older, higher maintenance technologies.
