Aaeon, industrial PC manufacturer has released new generation fanless vehicle computer, the AEC-6920.
The AEC-6920’s high performance is ideal for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and other car and factory control applications.
The AEC-6920 available from Embedded Technologies is an advanced development of the Boxer S series.
AAEON calls it the Boxer 2 series because it adopts Intel Core 2 Duo processors and can handle different tasks simultaneously.
The AEC-6920 supports up to Intel Core 2 Duo processors and is equipped with a high efficiency heat conduction mechanism.
The system memory is one DDRII SODIMM up to 2GB. In addition, AEC-6920 equips one PCI-Express, one PCI and two PCMCIA slots for expansion that increases the flexibility of system installation.
Moreover, three RS-232, one RS-232/422/485, two 10/100/1000Base-TX RJ-45 and four USB 2.0 ports allow communication with diverse devices with a high transfer rate.
The heat generation is always a huge challenge for IPC manufacturers.
The AEC-6920 provides a cutting-edge design in heat spreading. It also has many patents in terms of this heat conduction mechanism.
The wide range power input is also a key feature of the AEC-6920. In transportation application, the power range is critical.
The AEC-6920 supports DC input from 9 to 30 Volts. In addition to DC power, AC power input can also be accepted via an external AC power adapter. The AEC-6920 can be equipped with DC or AC power input based on customer needs.
"AEC-6920 is leading-edge and highly innovative. Its good thermal and anti-vibration design (up to 55 degree operation and 5G RMS vibration) enables the AEC-6920 to function in rugged environments and critical applications.
"In addition to its fanless and robust design, the MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure) of the AEC-6920 is up to 50,000 hours at 25°C ambient temperature.
