XEMICS, represented in Australia by Electronic Development Sales , has released the XE88LC02s, a single chip acquisition chain that needs a minimal external parts.
The ZoomingADC programmable gain/offset amplifier, high resolution ADC has four differential or seven pseudo-differential inputs. It can apply a gain of 1000 to the sensing element's signal while rejecting its offset and then convert the resulting signal with a resolution of 16 bits. It can be directly connected to any type of resistive sensor.
Instructions are coded on 22-bit words instead of eight or 16 bits. The instruction, the address of the source and the destination are put on a single instruction word that can be loaded in a single clock cycle.
The system uses less than 2μA in real time clock mode and a typical 300μA/MIPS in sustained computing mode. All peripherals have sleep modes. The ZoomingADC requires only 200μA for a 12bit 4kHz or a 16bit 1kHz data conversion. The SoC operates at 2.4V to 5.5V.
Applications include water, gas and heat meters, vital sign monitoring and industrial sensors.
