Ecologia to monitor fauna at Solomon

Ecologia Environment  has been contracted by Fortescue Metals Group to carry out fauna and mulga monitoring programs at the company’s rail and mine operations in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The three-year contract comprises of three programs for fauna monitoring at the Solomon Mine, Fortescue Hamersley Rail Line and the mainline as well as a final program for mulga monitoring at the Fortescue Hamersley Rail Line, which will include ant trap installation, monitoring and ant trap collection.

Lazaro Roque-Albelo, General Manager of Ecologia comments that the project is a continuation of the work executed the previous year, when they carried out baseline monitoring at the Solomon Project. Ecologia’s zoology team has completed over 50 terrestrial fauna assessments across the Pilbara region and are experienced in undertaking field activities, analysis of data and preparation of reports that meet Fortescue’s expectations.
