Australia will be transitioning to a new national licensing system that covers plant and equipment such as forklifts, cranes, dogging, rigging, scaffolding and so on. Although the two year transition period starts from the 1st July 2007, for many states, it will be business as usual for some time after that. For example in Victoria:
Assessors will be allowed a full 2 year transition period and can choose to operate under the current system until the 1st of July 2009. Current assessment instruments and other tools can continue to be used during this period.
From 1st July 2008 Registered Training Organisation (RTO's) can operate using using the new National system.
The new units of competency and assessment instruments are currently being drafted and reviewed and there is still much signing off to do once they are complete, as well as allowing for a transitional period to move into the new system once it is ready. For many, this will mean business as usual for some time to come. In turn, this means that Easy Guides’ Safety and Licence Guides remain current and up to date for use.
As each State and Territory prepares for the new system, Easy Guides will do well to keep everyone up to date.
