In many ways proper belt tracking is a fundamental requirement to resolving material spillage off a conveyor line.
For this reason ESS Engineering Services and Supplies designed the belt tracker, a unique belt tracking system that uses the force of a wandering conveyor belt to position a steering idler and correct its own path.
The ESS belt tracker utilises a multiple-pivot, torque multiplying system to supply a mechanical advantage to improve tracking. This style of belt tracking system transfers the motion of mistracking to the steering idler through its unique parallel linkage. This requires less force to initiate the work and, as it steers, turn the belt. Belt tracking then becomes an active, continuous, and precise micro-turning of the belt path.
By using guide rollers that are set very close to the edge of the belt, this belt tracking system can sense smaller movements of the belt and make corrections after very slight misalignments. Rather than waiting for a powerful mistracking force, the multi-pivot belt tracking device adjusts constantly, reacting to small mistracking forces, and providing continuous, precise corrections to avoid product loss.
