ERNI Australia’s triple and quadruple light guides, on the basis of SMT technology, can be used as an alternative to a component with THT-LEDs, for showing the switching states at the front panel.
Thanks to the smaller componentry formats, they not only save space on the printed circuit board, but they are also interesting for the most diverse types of applications.
The triple and quadruple light guides have a spacing of 3.8mm from light guide to light guide.
Compared with conventional LEDs, these components have a high ESD resistance (>12kV) and thus a considerably extended field of application.
By using SMD LEDs, e.g. TOP LEDs, cost savings are achieved because there is less time required for inserting the components and the mixed insertion of components is avoided.
The light guides are inserted in the printed circuit board via two insert pins, without using any tools or other fastening materials, resting in the board in a tight position thanks to the special design of the fastening pins.
The spacing measure is 8.3mm, and depending on the thickness and material of the circuit board used, the drillings have a diameter of about 2.5mm.
To avoid an irradiation to adjacent light guides, thess components have been equipped with a black aperture; thus, mixed LED colours are also possible without encountering any problems. Coloured light guides are available on demand.
