The 2-phase miniature stepper motor, available from Erntec , has a diameter of 22mm and a high power-to-volume ratio. The AM 2224 achieves an output of 2.5W and a peak holding torque of 45mNm, a good performance for this frame size (Ø 22 x 25.9mm).
There are 3, 6, 12 and 24 volt versions available as well as 0.25A and 0.50A. The motor executes the transmitted control signals with accuracy. This allows an angular step of 15° (even smaller in micro-stepping).
In an open control loop this makes it possible to run rotary speed profiles or build up a positioning control. The use of servo components can usually be avoided. After switching off, the motor maintains its present position.
Like brushless motors, stepper motors do not have any mechanical commutation, so service life is only limited by the bearings.
In order to also have the advantages of this motor technology where more torque is required, the AM 2224 is available with matching speed reducers, e.g. the Planetary Gearhead Series 23/1 increases continuous torque to 0,7Nm and even to 1Nm in intermittent operation.
