Wireless interconnectivity between data buses

EDAC Electronics Australia in conjunction with ELPRO Technologies has announced the release of the 905U-G Ethernet Wireless Gateway product.

This wireless product combines with EDAC's existing 905U Wireless I/O and Gateway products as part of EDAC's Wireless Instrumentation Backbone (WIB).

EDAC's 905U wireless products enable wireless connectivity for I&C and automation signals using the 900MHz license-free spread spectrum radio band.

A powerful radio data protocol using exception reporting, peer-to-peer addressing, forward error correction with ARQ handshaking, multi-path routing and security encryption means that large amounts of plant or factory data can be transferred efficiently, quickly and with a high degree of reliability and security.

The 905U-G products interface to a range of data bus protocols - Modbus, DF1, Profibus, and now Modbus TCP, EtherNet IP, and TCP/IP including Internet and email functionality. Additional interfaces such as Devicenet and HART are planned for release.

Wireless Gateway units can transfer data between units wirelessly as well as providing a data bus interface for Wireless I/O units. This enables Siemens PLC's to connect to Allen- Bradley PLCs wirelessly, as well as other PLCs and systems, and the wireless network will provide direct I/O connection, as well as TCP/IP and Internet access.

EDAC's 905U products are used in all industry sectors as a low cost alternative to signal wiring and data wiring. The 905U products have many outstanding features designed to make wireless the preferred choice in process control and automation applications.
