LEAR Siegler high volume air samplers are "state of the art” in air sampling.
They draw precise volumes of air through a filter paper of known weight for a set period of time. Filter papers are reweighed so particulate loading (in mg/m3) can be calculated
The paper contents can be examined and analysed for airborne contaminants such as metals and other contaminants.
Available from ECO Environmental , Lear Siegler HVAS units can be run with PM10, PM2.5 or TSP heads depending on the monitoring application.
PM10 monitoring
PM10 refers to particulate mater less than 10μ (an eighth of the size of human hair), which is small enough to enter into the deepest reaches of the human lungs.
The HVAS PM10 head separates particles smaller than 10μ from other airborne particulates. Particulates greater than 10μ settle out in the impaction chamber are removed during cleaning or routine maintenance.
Particles smaller than 10μ are carried upward and settle in a laboratory supplied quartz fibre filter.
TSP monitoring
Total suspended particulate matter (TSP) refers to all particles in ambient air. The TSP head collects total suspended particles, without separating particles of different sizes.
It is designed to meet requirements for sampling airborne particulates at a known flow rate for a determined amount of time, allowing for proper calculation of airborne particulate concentrations.
Laboratory supplied glass fibre filters are recommended wherever gravimetric weighing analysis may be required because of their nonhygroscopic properties.
Glass fibre filters will maintain constant weight under wide ranging ambient humidity conditions and their excellent loading characteristics make them ideal for routine air monitoring, specialised monitoring of solid pollutants, microrganisms, oil and acid smokes.
The DustTrak 8520
The Dustrak 8520 Aerosol Monitor is a portable, battery-operated laser photometer with real-time mass concentration readout and data logging capability.
The monitor provides reliable exposure assessment by measuring particle concentrations corresponding to respirable size, PM10, PM2.5 or PM1.0 size fractions.
