Capable of withstanding 180º C ambient temperatures at the compact measuring head, Raytek MIH Infra Red Compact Fixed Sensors have a low thermal coefficient of 0.05% per K. Both MID and MIH are now available with either 10:1 optical resolution or 22:1 optical resolution.
They are fully programmable using the integral display and push buttons, using a PC on the RS232 interface, or on the (optional) RS485 multi-drop connection and software package. This software makes it possible to monitor up to 32 sensors on one twisted pair, spread over a long distance, from a PC.
The temperature range is from -40º C - 600º C (programmable) and output is selectable as 4-20mA, voltage, J or K thermocouple. This allows for the direct replacement of problematic sensors without a change in matching instrumentation.
The air purge (pictured) is a low cost option to protect the lens with an air stream in cases where the lens may be contaminated. IR sensors use coated lenses, similar to a camera, and require careful cleaning procedures. In an industrial environment, an air purge, or window assembly makes this unnecessary.
