Newport’s new data acquisition system for monitoring temperature, humidity and barometric pressure is easier to install using existing wireless networks.

Conventional data loggers and manual gathering of information for temperature, humidity and pressure measurement can prove costly to most businesses. On the other hand, automating this process by installing hardwire data acquisition systems can be too expensive.

To ensure companies can utilise their existing Wi-Fi networks, Newport (USA) has released a new range of wSeries transmitters for monitoring temperature, humidity and barometric pressure with inputs for dual thermocouples and dual analogue process signals. The transmitter modules are weatherproof, wall mountable and battery powered using standard alkaline batteries.

Newport’s wSeries transmitters work with existing Wi-Fi networks to create a data acquisition system that requires no installation and has free software with no hidden extras. The system can be installed by simply placing transmitters at each measuring point and positioning external sensors where they are needed to take humidity, pressure and temperature measurement readings.

When configured with the field transmitters, data is accessible on any PC on the network through any web browser. As an option, SMS or email alarms can be sent when conditions change.

The transmitters come with user-replaceable batteries and battery life extending to four years with a measuring interval of two minutes or above.

The system includes features such as data graphing, input calibration functions, archiving, and interaction through web browser software, scaling of inputs and email/SMS alarms to mobile phones. These units are fully approved to the Australian standard for RF.
