Alternate power during blackouts

A UPS is a back-up power supply that will switch on in less than half a second to power the systems when a black-out occurs. Depending on the power load the UPS should provide the computer with alternate power for 10 to 30 minutes.

The batteries in the UPS are designed to last, so when the electricity is restored to the building, the UPS will re-charge its battery for the next time it is needed.
