Supplier News

Nylon casting differs from injection moulding or extrusion in that it produces a product by polymerisation right in the mould, where as the other processes simply reshape a pre-polymerised resin, therefore resulting in a higher quality product.

Good Characteristics:

  • Polymerising in the mould produces a material with
  • Higher molecular weight and crystallinity
  • Better dimensional stability
  • Improved machining benefits
  • Higher compressive and tensile strengths than those achieved by extruding or moulding

Special Grades:

  • Additives such as plasticisers, lubricants and heat stabilisers can be used to modify or improve the material’s performance
  • Ertalon LFX – Oil lubricated for bearings
  • Nylatron GSM – Wire rope sheaves for cranes
  • Nylatron MC901 – Blue fatigue resistant
  • Nylatron 703XL – extra slippery

Key success factors:

According to Dotmar EPP, typically these include large wear parts used in heavy industry where the material’s light weight, wear resistance and ability not to damage mating parts have made it an attractive alternative to steel and bronze parts.

Available shapes:

  • Rod
  • Sheet
  • Tubes
  • Custom made shapes
  • Finished machined parts

Typical machined parts:

  • Rollers and guides
  • Bushings and bearings
  • Gears and sprockets
  • Sheaves and idlers
  • Wear pads, load pads and slap blocks
