MEN presents the new XM1L COM module with an Intel Atom XL processor. It is available from Dominion Electronics in Australia. The processor upgrade from the Intel Atom to the Atom XL enables the user to operate the board in the extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and provides a higher memory capacity. MEN's COM module XM1L can be customized and equipped with a variety of different Intel Atom XL processors, depending on the needs of the application.
The XM1L is based on different Intel Atom processors which offer a maximum power dissipation of 7 Watts at a speed of up to 1.6 GHz. The COM module is used on a customer-specific carrier board on which the I/O interfaces can be accessed. Dependent on the processor version these interfaces consist of a mix of PCI Express links, LVDS, SDVO, audio, SATA, Ethernet with Wake-on-LAN function and USB. Additional COM interfaces can be made available on the carrier board via USB to COM conversion.
The DDR2 SDRAM memory capacity, with a size of up to 2 GB, is soldered against shock and vibration and can be extended by a USB Flash on the carrier board. For testing of the XM1L and for developing the application, the universal carier board XC1 in ATX format can be used. The XM1L can also be plugged onto COM Express carrier boards via the adapter board AE12.
The XM1L is qualified for an operating temperature of 40°C to +85°C with conduction or convection cooling. Like all ESMexpress modules it is installed in a closed housing which also ensures EMC protection. The dimensions of all ESMexpress modules are 95x125mm.
