Rabbit 5000 microprocessor is part of the new MiniCore series
Rabbit 5000 microprocessor is part of the new MiniCore series

Available from Dominion Electronics , Rabbit's new MiniCore series consists of compact networking modules. Available in pin-compatible wired and Wi-Fi versions, the MiniCore series allows for communications and networking applications such as energy management and intelligent building automation.

The Rabbit 5000 microprocessor is Rabbit’s latest processor and features Ethernet, Wi-Fi and SRAM providing a high level of integration to enable the MiniCore’s small footprint. Its small size (footprint of 31mm x 51 mm and 3 mm in height) offers users the flexibility to place wired or wireless network connectivity anywhere on a mother board.

“The MiniCore series is ideal for basic control and connectivity,” said Larry Kraft, senior vice president of global sales and marketing, Digi International. “It is small, low cost and optimized for high-volume applications such as energy management, building automation, industrial, point of sale and instrumentation applications. Users can also rely on the ease-of-use and dependability of the Rabbit brand to decrease development risk.”

The new MiniCore series includes the pin compatible and interchangeable wired RCM5700 and Wi-Fi RCM5600W. Pin-compatible versions that support ZigBee and USB are also in development. System developers can interchange MiniCore family products to tailor connectivity for any given application.

Available models include:

  • The RCM5700 features a 50 MHz Rabbit 5000 microprocessor, on-chip 10/100 Ethernet, 1MB serial flash, 36 digital I/O ports and five serial ports
  • The RCM5600W features a 78 MHz Rabbit 5000 microprocessor, Wi-Fi, 1MB serial flash, 36 digital I/O ports and five serial ports
  • Development kits feature all of the software and tools necessary to make development easy
