The Australian Gas Technology Conference & Exhibition (AGT) won the award for Best Trade Show Under 10,000m² at the recent Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) Awards for Excellence.
AGT won one of the exhibition industry’s top honours in its very first year, beating some of Australasia’s leading trade shows at the gala event in Melbourne. Event Director, Bill Hare said the award capped off an exciting first year for Western Australia’s premier gas technology event, which was held in Perth in July 2012.
He described the award as a terrific honour and testament to the enormous efforts of their team to deliver a major new event focusing on Australia’s $200 billion LNG industry. They were able to establish AGT as an event on the industry calendar, attracting more than 3500 visitors in the inaugural year.
One of more than 15 awards presented on the night, the Best Trade Show category was judged on a number of criteria, including marketing campaign, visitor and exhibitor evaluation, and results to budget.
Mr Hare also acknowledged the support of the Government of Western Australia’s Department of State Development and Department of Commerce, the City of Perth, the AGT advisory committee and committee chair Mark Stickells of the University of Western Australia’s Energy and Minerals Institute.
An event designed to focus on the midstream - downstream sector of the gas industry, AGT was launched in 2012 by Diversified Exhibitions Australia , organisers of the Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition & Conference (AOG).
Mr Hare’s team is now gearing up for an even bigger year in 2013, beginning with the AOG 2013 at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 20-22 February, which will bring together more than 480 exhibitors from across 16 countries.
AGT will return to Perth in July 2013.
