This year’s Austronics (organised by Australian Exhibition Services ) takes place at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from 5 to 7 October 2004. As in previous years, the event will be staged concurrently with Electrix (electrical) and Automate (automation and process), providing a combined total of around 250 exhibitors across the three shows.
According to the organisers, Austronics presents a “focused electronics industry marketplace showcasing the latest electronics products and technology to a dedicated audience of electronic users and buyers in one convenient location”. The organisers hope for 8,000 visitors across the three exhibitions.
The dozens of major Australian distributors and manufacturers on show are supplemented by international group stands including the Taiwan Electrical & Electronic Manufacturers Association (TEEMA), the China National Electronics Import & Export Corporation and The Indian Electronic Computer & Software Export Promotion Council
Also present will be individual companies from China, India, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Taiwan, Singapore and the UK.
Complementary events
Surface Mount 2004 will be held in conjunction with Austronics 2004 and is billed as “Australia’s premier conference dedicated to electronics design and manufacture”. The conference will include workshops, certification courses and presentations on implementing lead-free soldering, EMC and signal integrity, PCB design, and process control and test.
International speakers include Bob Willis, technical director of the SMART Group (UK), John Howard, an independent consultant on EMC (UK) and Pete Collins of JTAG Technologies (UK). In addition, the 4th annual Cleaner, Greener, Smarter half-day workshop promises lively debate and an expert panel discussion. The workshop, convened by the Australian Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association and the Australian Construction Industry Forum, will be held on Tuesday 5 October 2004.
Finally, a series of free hourly industry seminars will be held over the duration of the event in a purpose-built theatre located on the floor of the exhibition. A detailed seminar program can be seen at the Austronics website.
