Power over Ethernet switches for IP Video Surveillance
GarrettCom, represented by Dewar Electronics in Australia, has introduced a range of hardened industrial graded Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches that are ideal for the IP video surveillance market.
There are three models of unmanaged Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches that are available with a temperature rating of –40°C to 75°C for heavy duty applications.
The Magnum PS14P PoE Power Source Convenient Switch combines standard 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) with a small heavy-duty 4-port switch. Using an external -48VDC power source, all four of the PS14P’s Ethernet ports can provide power as well as 10/100 Mb data transmission over the inter-connecting Ethernet cables.
Now, data and power for attached devices can be transmitted over a single Ethernet twisted-pair cable. The Magnum PCSG14P Power Source PoE units are for premium-rated outdoor applications where devices attached to the RJ-45 ports (such as video surveillance cameras) may need to be powered by PoE.
The power input is 48VDC, which powers the PCSG14P and carries power through to the attached PoE devices. Models available provide fixed Gb fibre ports for short distance SX fibre; fixed Gb fibre ports for 2km multi-mode; fixed LC-type transceivers for robust single-mode Gb fibre SFP ports (Small Form-factor Pluggable) for flexible choices of the transceiver distance needed.
The compact package is ideal for industrial network edge installations. A Gb Converter Switch used in place of a Gb Media Converter offers a better value.
The Magnum PES42P PoE Power-Source Edge Switch combines standard 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) with a small heavy-duty 6-port Ethernet Switch. Using an external -48VDC power source, four of the PES42P’s Ethernet ports can provide power as well as 10/100Mb data transmission over the inter-connecting Ethernet cables.
Data and power for the attached devices (such as video surveillance cameras) can be transmitted over a single Ethernet twisted-pair cable to each, simplifying and cost-reducing installation and maintenance in an industrial facility. The other PES42P ports may be 100 Mb fibres for distance, noise immunity, ground-isolation and high bandwidth.
Power over Ethernet (PoE) is also available with the extensive range of GarrettCom Managed Switches as well.
