Supplier of logistics automation, warehousing, materials handling and storage systems, Dematic
, recently won the Endeavour Awards, which was presented by Manufacturers’ Monthly
The Steel Innovation Award
, sponsored by BlueScope Steel, recognises Dematic’s success in developing innovative storage solutions to facilitate new automated storage and retrieval (ASRS) applications, including Dematic Multishuttle® and Dematic MiniLoad.
In accepting the award, Dematic’s Chief Operating Officer, Simon Barrow, paid tribute to the company’s Structural Engineering Team, led by Dr Murray Clarke.
"Thanks to the efforts of Murray and his team, we have successfully developed an innovative range of competitively-priced steel storage products for global markets," says Barrow.
"While Dematic is one of the largest logistics systems suppliers in the world, few of our global associates have the extensive experience in storage system design that we do in Australia."
"Through Colby Storage Solutions
, we have been designing and manufacturing world class storage equipment for nearly 45 years, and it is rewarding that we are looked upon as a global centre of excellence for storage system design within Dematic. The success of the projects to date demonstrates that, despite being on the other side of the world, we can most certainly compete in terms of price, quality and delivery," he continues.
According to Barrow, Dematic continue to invest in R&D and new technologies in order to add value to the global Dematic group through our specialist storage system design skills.
"It is pleasing to know our world-class manufacturing facility is very competitive, despite our dollar being at record highs," he says.
Dematic storage system components are manufactured from high tensile grades of steel supplied by BlueScope Steel at advanced production facilities in Australia. The high precision and globally standardised steel racking components within Dematic Multishuttle and MiniLoad solutions are used extensively across a wide range of applications requiring automated storage and handling.
"This has truly been a Dematic team effort," adds Barrow.
"Not only did our structural design team come up with innovative products, we are now making them in Australia and have been able to export them worldwide."
"I would like to congratulate the excellent work of Dr Murray Clarke and his structural engineering design team, whose outstanding work continues to put us at the forefront of the storage industry. I would also like to congratulate our GM of Supply Chain Ashraf Soas and the whole manufacturing and purchasing team for their dedication in making us so competitive in a tough global market."
