Demag Cranes & Components
has been contracted by ThyssenKrupp Fördertechnik GmbH to supply three process cranes for use in their copper mines in Zambia.
The 80-tonne load capacity process cranes will be used to equip semi-mobile crushers to be delivered at the Zambian mine site, and will be employed for maintenance and repair work on the crushers. Scheduled for delivery at the end of 2012, the rugged crane systems will ensure availability under harsh ambient conditions.
The crane installations are being built at the process crane factory in Slany, Czech Republic before being shipped to Zambia together with the crushers.
Dr Lars Brzoska, Executive Vice President with responsibility for Industrial Cranes at Demag Cranes explains that Demag’s international structure played a decisive role in the award of the contract. Demag’s regional subsidiary in South Africa will enable the organisation to deliver a high level of service quality and short response times to their customers.
Lutz Dowy, Head of Process Cranes at Demag Cranes adds that Demag Cranes has already supplied cranes for other companies in the ThyssenKrupp group, leading to the customer’s confidence in the company’s rugged lifting and drive solutions.
