A COMPREHENSIVE guide to waterproofing has been released by Davco Construction Materials . The guide details, in an easy-to-follow format, the correct steps to waterproofing various installations.
These include wet areas in residential buildings, roofs, decks and balconies, planter boxes, and water tanks/ponds.
The guide also details the correct treatment of expansion joints and cracks.
John Moses, Davco's national marketing manager, said the Waterproofing Guide was a valuable tool for the selection and installation of waterproofing membranes for various applications in accordance with Australian Standards.
"In addition to the waterproofing steps in the guide we have included Davco product information to assist in the selection or specification of the most suitable product for the particular waterproofing project.
"The guide covers such applications as shower recess detailing, shower over-bath-enclosures and other residential wet areas.
“There is also a section on waterproofing roofs, decks and balconies, details waterproofing of metal roofs, as well as rail/pipe penetrations," he added.
"The waterproofing of tanks and ponds covers both potable concrete tanks and metal tanks, as well as planter boxes. This will be a popular section given the trend toward landscaping of commercial buildings where effective waterproofing is essential.
"The section on the treatment of expansion joints and cracks covers non-structural and structural cracks as well as sheet joint detail," he said.
Applicators will find Davco's Waterproofing Guide easy to follow because it has professionally produced graphics to support the detailed application steps in each section of the publication.
The product information at the front of the guide lists the Davco products under the sections of acrylics, polyurethane, acrylic/cement, cementitious, bitumens and miscellaneous. A full product description is shown together with coverage estimates and pack sizes.
On the back page there is a handy Davco waterproofing selection guide that shows the various substrates encountered on construction sites and the recommended Davco product.
