DATALOGIC Australia has introduced the new generation Dragon - the latest addition to its handheld laser scanner range for industrial applications.
The Dragon family has been renewed with enhanced architecture, three optical versions with multi-standard decoder and advanced data formatting and data editing.
The mechanics are basically unchanged to keep the proven features: robustness and ergonomics, clearly audible beeper and bright LED, optical parts suspended on shock absorbers, and body materials that protect the unit from drops of up to two metres to concrete.
The enhanced multi-standard architecture is based on a high-speed 16-bit micro-controller with 256kB Flash memory and 20kB RAM. This allows for in-field updates via serial interface.
In addition, three optical versions allow for a maximum reading distance of more than two metres and all models are equipped with a multi-standard decoder (RS232, Wedge, and Pen emulation).
The Dragon also has a new laser diode with a wavelength of 650nm, to make the scan line more visible. The laser beam is a vivid red colour and can be seen clearly even in environments with very high ambient light.
Also available is the cordless Dragon, allowing for all the above features, but without being restrained by a cable to the host computer. Datalogic Australia 03 9558 9299.
