At FIE 2007, Danisco has introduced a new label Care4U embracing its extensive range of natural food protectants.
This is a dedicated approach to helping the food industry enhance its safety image while addressing the end consumer trend towards natural labelling.
Care4U comprises products that enable Danisco’s customers to achieve more consumer-friendly labelling in line with local regulations. Backed by its knowledge, technology and services, Danisco believes it represents a series of values central to the food protection area - trust, sustainability, innovation and partnership.
The label targets the fresh dairy, cheese, meat, soup, sauces, dressings, oils and fats, baking and beverage sectors in particular.
For those customers who enter a strategic partnership with Danisco, access will be given to the complete Care4U package including a website containing scientific documentation of the protectants’ functionalities and benefits.
Expert assistance with applications and local food regulations will also be available, along with analytical support to measure the efficacy of the Care4U range in the specific customer products.
Today’s trends suggest that natural food protection technologies are now well on the way to replacing synthetic preservatives, some of which have been linked with allergy, increased disease risk and the development of antibiotic resistance.
Natural solutions currently account for 25% of the global one billion Euro market for food protectants as a whole and have an annual growth rate of 6-8% around twice that of the food protection sector in total.
