SANITARIUM has successfully launched its 'Water +' range in a new 710ml PET bottle. The bottle was specially designed to incorporate the 'Water +' logo on two sides and has multiple grooves for easy grip.

The 710ml replaces the 580ml range. It still has only two calories per bottle and includes flavour, electrolytes and antioxidant vitamins, especially Vitamin E.

There are four flavours in the range - mandarin, lemon, peach and lemon lime. Shrink sleeves, supplied by DFC Packaging , complete the package.

Distortion trials were conducted to ensure the curved surface of the bottle did not distort the 'Water +' logo through the shrink process. DFC worked closely with the graphic designer to overcome the distortion issue.

The sleeves were gravure printed with seven colours including a metallic silver. The use of metallic print is becoming increasingly popular with shrink sleeves especially in the beverage industry.

The bottles were sleeved on site at Sanitarium's Christchurch plant by DFC's high-speed sleeving machine, the NSV-250, which is capable of sleeving up to 300 bottles a minute.

Bottles are sleeved prior to filling and shrunk in a dry heat tunnel, with air recirculation.
