B&R’s 8LV servo motor series available in Australia from DAANET has been expanded to include a new line of motor-mounted gearboxes.
Offering high power density in a small installation space, the high-performance servo motors integrate all mechanical and electrical elements into an extremely compact unit.
Equipped with an extremely small absolute encoder system featuring a resolution of 262144 steps per revolution, the system is able to achieve high precision while taking up less space.
The gearboxes are mounted directly on the motor to save weight, installation space and the amount of mass being moved, made possible by totally reconstructing the motor's output flange and adapting it completely to the gearboxes.
The centre gear rests directly on the motor shaft and replaces the input shaft on the gearbox. This type of mounting eliminates the need for an adapter flange, clamp system or the gearbox input bearing.
In addition to approximately 20% savings in weight and installation space, the amount of mass that has to be moved is considerably reduced as well.
High-performance control loops can be created for dynamic applications even in tight spaces with the rigid structure and small amount of mass.
With gearboxes mounted directly on the motor, it's possible to select from the 8GM30 economy series gearboxes, the 8GM40 standard gearboxes and the 8GM50 reinforced gearboxes.
Gearboxes in the standard series are available as single-stage and two-stage units with a backlash of <8 - <15 arcminutes.
The 8GM50 series uses bearings optimised for radial and axial forces for mechanical compatibility with Wittenstein products.
The new motor series is optimally suited for applications that place high demand on dynamics and torque in limited spaces.
