D-Link has developed a dual 802.11b/a wireless PCI adapter with 802.11x and advanced encryption to provide a reliable upgrade path from 802.11b to the more powerful 802.11a standard.
Users will now be able to take advantage of the three non-overlapping channels in the 2.4GHz 11Mbps 802.11b environment or the eight non-overlapping channels in the 5GHz 54Mbps 802.11a space, according to D-Link president Steven Joe.
The adapter also takes advantage of advanced 802.11x user authentication and the advanced encryption standard (AES), Joe said.
“Clearly, this adapter is the next step in wireless technology, and another leadership success for D-Link,” Joe continued.
“Our new dual-band D-Link AirPro wireless solution delivers excellent performance combined with scalability and compatibility.”
