Thread formers
CUTTING Tools Australia has released DC Swiss HSSE PM thread formers with active and passive polygonal shapes that react to varied material flow characteristics.
With the addition of DC surface coatings, they also provide a swarf free alternative.
Type FP has a passive polygon shape and generates a progressive flow of material, with low coefficient of elongation as carbon steels, alloy steels and aluminium alloys. This works well in cold-formed steels and with the correct application, it is claimed to reduce tool wear considerably.
Type FA has an active polygon shape and is suitable for materials with high coefficient of elongation such as stainless steel, copper alloys. This geometry creates a flow of easily formed material. The active polygon shape also works well in ductile materials and with the correct application, it is claimed to reduce heat and increase tool life significantly.
