Crushing & Mining Equipment (CME) has sold six mobile conveyors to contractor WPH Plant Hire for use at Fortescue's mines.

It has supplied six Trackstack tracked mobile conveyors to the contractor, who have commissioned them on Fortescue's Solomon and Cloudbreak mines.

According to CME, the three 8042TSL Trackstack radial stackers, which weigh 15.5 tonnes, and three 8042T Trackstack straight stackers, which weigh 19 tonnes and are the heaviest units in the market, and feature hydraulically folding head and tail sections for easy transport, and are driven by Duetz 4 cylinder 53kW diesel powerpacks.

The heavy duty robust design of the conveyors allows for tail drum height adjustment whilst at the same time maintaining the head drum height, allowing for an increased stockpile capacity.

This heavy duty design is reportedly behind the purchase of the stackers as they can withstand the harsh conditions found in the Pilbara.

Luke Mateljan, COO for WPH, stated that the company is "continually looking to improve our plant safety capability and reliability".

"We operate around the clock in a very challenging environment and extreme operating conditions, so it was a natural progression to look at the Trackstack range of conveyors. We have had these in operation now for a few months and they are proving themselves very well," he said.
