CROWN Equipment has enhanced its walkie stacker line-up with the recent launch of the M4000. Manufactured in Australia to suit local requirements, the M4000 is a versatile machine suited for a wide variety of uses in manufacturing, warehouse and retail environments.

Commenting on the release, sales and marketing director Glenn Pulley said Crown was now able to offer one of the most comprehensive walkie stacker ranges in the industry, offering capacities from 1,000kg up to 2,000kg, with lift heights to 5.2m.

"Operators will love the M4000. We have been manufacturing stackers for more than 30 years and we are continually focussing on improving the ergonomic and manoeuvrability aspects of the units.

"An example of our design initiatives is the functionality of the handle. With the handle in the near vertical position, the operator is still able to drive the machine in creep speed, enabling the tightest of turns in narrow aisles," he said.

"Other operator benefits result from our advanced electronics. The M4000 is extremely smooth in all lifting and travel movements thanks to the state-of-the-art transistor controller.

“The user-friendly controller also makes it easy to customise the main operating parameters to suit a particular operator's experience. This is very important where inexperienced staff will be using the equipment," he added.

Another safety feature is the three forms of electrical or regenerative braking: when controls are at neutral; when travel direction is changed; and automatic braking on a gradient if the top travel speed is exceeded.

In addition an anti-roll function also protects the operator. The truck senses travel without travel being selected and applies the brakes, preventing uncontrolled runaway on a long gradient.

Depending on the application, the M4000 can be supplied with either an intermediate or heavy-duty power system. A 24-volt battery tree (4 x 6 volt batteries), with an on-board charger, provides 175A/h of power, which is sufficient for most normal applications, while a 290A/h traction battery is available for heavy-duty users.

Both types of batteries are available in maintenance-free options, allowing opportunity charging and minimising operating costs.

While designed primarily for the Australian market, Crown expects demand for the M4000 to be strong in New Zealand and SE Asia, where the company has branches in Singapore, Malaysia and Korea, as well as representatives in most parts of the region. Crown Equipment 131 604.
