CROWN Equipment is once again pleased to be the major sponsor of the Swire Cold Storage National Forklift Driver Competition in 2006.
In conjunction with CHEP Australia, Crown Equipment has been a keen supporter of this major event since its inception last year.
The 2006 National Forklift Driver Competition will take place this year at Swire Cold Storage's QLD facility in Hemmant on May 24.
Competitions have been run in each state since the start of the year, with the state winners travelling to QLD, courtesy of Crown Equipment, to participate in the final.
Participant's safety skills will be tested while completing a course specifically designed by pallet supplier, CHEP, and driving one of Crown Equipment's latest model trucks.
The national winner receives two flights and two nights accommodation in the capital city of their choice within Australia.
"As Australia's number one forklift manufacturer celebrating 40 years in Australia, Crown Equipment is delighted once again to be working alongside such companies as Swire Cold Storage and CHEP in advocating the importance of forklift driver skills and safety," said Craig Kenchington, Crown Marketing Manager.
"Having the support of major players in Australian industry lends even greater weight to the importance we place on expert driver training and safety issues in the materials handling industry."
"The competition doubles as an intensive learning process to identify areas where each driver could refine operating skills.
"Our sponsorship is evidence that Crown is committed to achieving the standards of World's Best Practice in our industry."
Crown Equipment has been conducting specialised lift truck driver training courses and licensing at their purpose built facility in Smithfield, NSW, as well as customer sites for over 10 years.
Crown is one of a select group of companies who are a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) providing nationally accredited training across transport, warehousing and logistics in Australia.
"We are delighted to have the support and expertise of Crown Equipment and CHEP Australia in delivering an event which promotes a greater level of workplace safety within our sites and for our employees to demonstrate their forklift driving skills," said Lou Gheller, General Manager - Human Resources, Swire Cold Storage.
