Crown Equipment sponsors the Swire Cold Storage 2007 National Forklift Driver Competition

In what is fast becoming a tradition, Crown Equipment has once again signed up to be the major sponsor of the Swire Cold Storage National Forklift Driver Competition in 2007. Also back on board is CHEP Australia joining Crown as a keen supporter of this major company event.

The 2007 competition will once more focus on safe forklift driving practices with all eyes on current reigning champion, George Glisic, who has won the competition for the last two years.

George, along with fellow contestants will test his safe forklift driving skills on a brand new Crown Equipment 5200 series Reach Forklift Truck while completing a course specifically designed by pallet maker CHEP Australia. The 5200 series is particularly suited to narrow isles such as those found in a cold store environment.

“Crown Equipment has and continues to be very concerned with safety and producing the safest materials handling equipment possible. We are proud to support companies such as Swire Cold Storage in highlighting the importance of driving a forklift safely,” says Craig Kenchington, General Manager Marketing, Crown Equipment Australia.

Graham Brown, Key Account Manager CHEP, will be returning to the judging panel and helping to determine who will walk away with the title of Swire Cold Storage National Forklift Driver for 2007.

“We at CHEP Australia are very happy to support this competition. It is an excellent vehicle for getting the safe forklift driving message to employees in a fun and social environment.

“The competition is a great initiative and one that is looked forward to by many Swire Cold Storage employees. We are once more delighted to have the support and expertise of Crown Equipment and CHEP Australia in delivering this very imported event,” say Lou Gheller, General Manager – Human Resources, Swire Cold Storage.

The 2007 National Forklift Driver Competition will take place on July 11 in sunny Queensland at Swire Cold Storage’s facility located in Hemmant. All State competitions will be held during June with state finalists travelling to Qld to compete in the grand final courtesy of CHEP Australia.

The national winner will receive 2 flights and 2 nights accommodation in the capital city of his/her choice within Australia.
