Wireless serial device servers

MOXA Technologies has released the NPort W2004/W2250/W2150 wireless serial device servers. The W2004 is designed for system integrators to connect up to four RS-232/422/485 devices to a host computer with a high-speed 802.11g+b wireless LAN network. W2250/W2150 can connect one or two RS-232/422/485 devices to a standard 802.11b wireless LAN.

Up to four ports for serial to 802.11g and one or two ports for serial-to-802.11b.

Users can move serial devices to a new Wi-Fi infrastructure. All settings are configured via web browser with the built-in Ethernet or WLAN port and a quick configuration wizard allows configuration in four easy steps. Devices and software can be integrated with standard wired equivalent privacy (WEP). The servers support 128-bit encryption. In addition NPort W2004 provides enhanced configuration via HTTPS and SSH for stronger protection.

The W2004/W2250/W2150 support Real COM/TTY drivers for Windows and Linux systems, ensuring that existing PC software will still work when used with the new Wireless LAN infrastructure. TCP Server, TCP Client and UDP modes are also supported, so that IP-based software like Telnet can access each device directly by knowing the IP address and TCP port number. The system comes in a metal case suitable DIN-rail or wall-mounting.
