32bit MCU that enables 3-phase motor control from Crest Technologies

Fujitsu distributed by Crest Technologies, has introduced MB91F487, a member of a new series within the company's MB91480 32bit FR MCU family, optimised for 3-phase motor control in industrial and home appliances.

Housed in a 100-pin LQFP package, the MB91F487 features 512 Kbyte embedded flash memory and 32Kbyte RAM. The MB91F487 integrates three 1.2µs 10bit ADCs, providing 18 channels that allow measurement of motor parameters and other sensor information.

Together with two multifunction timers and PWM units, the MB91F487 provides a cost-effective, single-chip solution for applications, which require control of two 3-phase motors.

Fujitsu's 32bit RISC core, which operates at a clock frequency of 80MHz, is accompanied by an independent µDSP unit, supporting finite impulse response or infinite impulse response filtering. This coprocessor features dedicated instruction, coefficient and variable memory, and can execute a 32 -by-32bit + 72bit calculation in one machine cycle (12.5ns) in parallel to the CPU.

Other features of the MB91F487include two 16bit reload timers, three USARTs with SPI and I²C functionality, timebase and a watchdog timer. On-chip pre-fetch and five channels of DMA are included to ensure good performance. The MB91F487 covers a supply voltage range from 4 to 5.5V and a temperature range of -40 to 85°C.
