A new innovation from Cost Effective Maintenance is helping companies protect their expensive equipment and machinery components from rust caused by water entry.  

The recent widespread flooding highlighted the need to protect vehicle, equipment and machinery components from rust due to water entry into engines, transmissions, final drives and hydraulics.  

AW10 Antiwear treatment from Cost Effective Maintenance is formulated to facilitate superior rust protection in bearings, gears and all oil-wetted components.  

AW10 Antiwear is simply added to the oil of these components. Once coated, the treatment will provide excellent rust protection even in harsh environments.   

Several tests have been conducted to test the efficacy of AW10 Antiwear anti-rust treatment from Cost Effective Maintenance.  

ASTM D665 (Procedure B) Test

Standard steel test strips were immersed in a corrosive oil/sea water mixture at 60ºC for 24 hours. Total absence of rust was required to pass the test.  

Three oils were tested and all failed. Addition of AW10 Antiwear to the same oils resulted in total absence of rust.    

Cyclic Oven Rust Test

Also run for 24 hours at 60ºC, the test involved introducing 10% exhaust gas condensate to the test oil to provide severe rusting conditions.  

The three oils tested exhibited between 50% and 100% rusted surface area.  

The same three oils treated with AW10 Antiwear at a mere 2% were totally rust-free at the end of the 24-hour test.
