CONLAB has announced the availability of a fully packaged radio modem utilising the ZigBee/802.15.4 protocol. MaxStream model XBP24-PKI-RA and XBP24-PKI-UA enable RS232 or USB wireless connectivity using the latest ZigBee communications protocol.

The radio modem provides all the benefits in a design that yields three times the range of traditional ZigBee solutions.

The 100mW EIRP XBee-PRO provides up to 1.6km range and its RS-232/USB port makes integration simple. No configuration is necessary for out-of-box RF communications.

The modem’s default configuration supports a wide range of data system applications. Advanced configurations can be implemented using simple AT commands or the free XCTU software. Network topology can be point-to-point or point-to-Multi Point. It includes:

* ISM 2.4 GHz operating frequency

* 250KBaud rate

* 60mW (18 dBm) 100mW EIRP power output

* RS-232 interfacing port, or, USB interface port

* RPSMA antenna connector

* Industrial (-40° to – 85° C) temperature rating

* Advanced networking & low-power modes are software supported
