Energy Efficiency Testing for televisions and digital set top boxes

Supplier News

Given that Minimum Energy Performance Standards and registration for Digital TV set top boxes (December 2008) and Televisions (October 2009) have been implemented Comtest has purchased the extra equipment required to perform the MEPS testing of televisions and set top boxes. This equipment comprises RF generators and modulators, the specified Video content and luminance meters to set the television levels correctly.

While Comtest Laboratories are NATA accredited to AS/NZS 4665 and AS/NZS 62301 it is planned to add AS/NZS 62087.1(Int) (Audio, video and related equipment - Methods of measurement), AS/NZS 62087.2.1 (MEPS requirements for digital television set top boxes) and AS/NZS 62087.2.2(Int) (MEPS and energy rating label requirements for television sets) to the laboratory accreditations shortly.

Comtest (the first laboratory in Australia to be NATA accredited to AS/NZS 4665 - Performance of external power supplies) has been gradually increasing their capacity in efficiency testing.
