AS/NZS 2201.5:2008 specifies the requirements for the performance, reliability and security characteristics for alarm transmission systems used as part of an intruder alarm system. The standard includes requirements for the transmission of signals between an intruder alarm system in a clients premises and a monitoring centre.
By definition the alarm transmission system is the configuration of components used to transfer information from an intruder alarm system installed in a client’s premises to a monitoring centre and the alarm transmission system interface is the component of the alarm transmission system that communicates between the alarm system and the alarm transmission system.
As an ISO 17025 accredited facility Comtest Laboratories performs alarm transmission testing in accordance with the standard AS/NZS 2201.5:2008 and are able to test systems that are classified from Class 1 to Class 5.
Comtest is able to provide the testing service at the customer’s premises and in some circumstances are able to provide in-house facilities. For testing the alarm transmission system shall be configured to the maximum number of connected alarm systems. Where the maximum number of alarm systems make it impractical to physically connect to the alarm transmission system, the number of connections may be simulated.
