COMSOL has released the USB 2.0 MicroFlash drive, offering up to 256 Megabytes of storage in a package that can dangle from the detachable key-ring included.
It plugs through the USB port, allowing a computer to quickly detect and configure the disk without any need for rebooting. Files can be read? written to? copied and deleted as with a conventional disk drive. The capacity allows MP3 files or videos to be stored and played and program applications to be run directly from the disk.
The drive also provides flexibility and data security with disk partitioning and password security features. Users can create and configure one or two-partition drive, with an open partition drive with no password and a secured partition drive.
The secured drive protects sensitive files from being accessed by setting a password to hide the drive. Any access to this secured partition drive then requires the running of the security utility and the entering of the correct password.
The MicroFlash drive is compliant with USB specification 2.0 and Version 1.1. It provides read performance of up to 12 Megabytes a second and write performance of up to eight Megabytes a second. It requires no driver for Windows ME, 2000, XP Mac 9.1 or above and a driver CD is provided for Windows 98.
