WITH all the convenience of a flash-drive, but delivering 2.2 gigabytes of storage in its compact (66 x 56 x 15mm) form, the new Comsol Minidrive uses magnetic disk technology to ensure complete integrity of the stored data.
Suitable for the portable storage of large files, whether for professional or private use, the Minidrive operates under Windows ME/2000/XP, Mac and Linux without having to load any drivers or software, and features its own built-in security to guard against unauthorised access.
"The heart of this new drive is a one-inch hard disk equipped with an instant auto ZIP function," Comsol marketing director Bryan Hedley said.
"With full plug 'n play operation it operates as a secure, reliable removeable disk. We've found it ideal for any large data files, from engineering drawings to music or photographs."
The Comsol Minidrive simply plugs into an available USB port through its rotating connector and requires no power supply or battery.
Apart from the security and ZIP features, it has an e-mail function to store individual mail settings, so allowing access when away-from-base and can also store Internet Explorer settings ensuring Favourite Sites are always at hand.
Fast 4200rpm operation allows for a maximum data transfer rate of 6.5MB per second and the drive is fully compliant with USB specification 2.0 and Version 1.1.
