Local commercial printer Complete Colour Printing has signed up to be a part of Cool the Globe’s “Lights off Australia” initiative.
Already, 14,000 Australian residents and 1100 Australian businesses have committed to reducing their energy usage every month.
Being a part of the initiative requires a commitment to pay particular attention to energy usage on the first Wednesday of every month.
Complete Colour Printing consists of 48 staff members. All are aware of the company’s dedication to the environment and commitment to the Cool the Globe campaign.
The first Wednesday of every month, Marketing Co-ordinator and Environmental Officer Gemma Harbutt reminds all Complete Colour employees of their commitment to the initiative.
“Every first Wednesday of a new month my calendar reminds me that it is ‘Lights off Australia” day.” says Gemma.”
At 8:30am, I use the PA system to announce the importance of the day and remind all employees to be extra careful with energy usage for the day. Then, when the afternoon shift workers clock on at 2:00pm, I repeat the announcement for their benefit.”
Channel Seven’s Sunrise and the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) are responsible for the implementation of the campaign. Communication about the initiative will improve its level of success.
