Commercial printer Complete Colour Printing has installed a water saving device within their production process.
The water re-circulation unit was installed into the company’s prepress department early February 2007.
The unit will allow the company to reduce water usage by approximately 278,000 litres a year.
This means that water usage efficiency within the process will be improved by 97%. With the implementation of this one device, Complete Colour will save approximately the same amount of water an average Victorian household uses in one year.
“As Environmentally responsible printers, we are always actively searching for ways to reduce our impact upon the environment.” says Managing Director Tim Michaelides.
The water saving device has been incorporated into the computer to plate production process. The re-circulation unit allows a certain amount of water to be re-circulated or reused before new water is released for use within the process.
“We recognise that this system will not provide any monetary return on investment for a number of years however we feel that saving water is currently a more important issue. We made the decision to purchase the machine as an Environmental step forward rather than a money maker.” says Jean-Pierre DeWaele, Complete Colour’s Production Manager.
