In the early days of dry ice blasting it very quickly became evident that most cleaning applications required the highest density dry ice particles possible.
In 1994, as a result of extensive R&D, Cold Jet engineers patented their Extrusion Die Technology, which combined with their most innovative and scientifically advanced dry ice extruder design, consistently produces dry ice at near the maximum theoretical weight-density of 96+ lbs/ft3 (1.5 tons/m3).
The pellets (and nuggets) thus produced are solid and translucent, free of striations and variations that are often found on other pellets.
In addition to providing better contaminant removal for dry ice blasting applications, HD pellets exhibit better transportability (less crumbling and clumping) and a lower sublimation rate, and therefore longer shelf-life, than their less dense counterparts.
