DVT 's Intellect machine vision software has been upgraded to combine new algorithms with a simplified user interface designed to be set up and operated by plant-floor technicians.

The new algorithms include an application-specific tool set dedicated to bead tracking, we a fixed font reader, a feature count function and dynamic scaling capabilities. User interface improvements include dockable windows, a default restore command and improved snap to shape drawing tools. The addition of a system explorer window allows the user to browse global fonts and background scripts and an enhanced properties window with hierarchical tree control gives a streamlined, application-dedicated parameter layout.

The bead tracker tool inspects the continuity and consistency of adhesive applied to a wide variety of parts within the automotive, packaging, and consumer markets. Intellect 1.1 also includes a faster and more robust fixed font reader, making it easier to read standard fonts such as Semi, OCR-A, OCR-B, and Farrington 7B. This reader can also decipher severely degraded code or difficult to read code such as that found on rough surfaces. The time-saving feature count function automatically learns the size of features to be counted and sets appropriate minimum and maximum ranges. The dynamic scaling capability allows multiple scales in the same field of view, automatically compensating for Z-axis offset.
