The Australian National Halon Bank – Protecting The Ozone
The Halon Bank is an internationally recognised facility that manages and disposes ozone-depleting substances and synthetic greenhouse gases. The facility, based in Melbourne, safely stores, reclaims and destroys Halons, CFCs and HCFCs.
The skills and expertise of the Halon Bank are available to assist other countries to establish their own ozone-depleting substance management programs. Since its inception in 1993, Coffey Environments has managed the Australian National Halon Bank on behalf of the Commonwealth Government.
The Halon Bank is a winner of the prestigious United States Environmental Protection Agency Stratospheric Ozone Protection Award for its contribution to global environmental protection.
