Coates Hire supplied a ladder hoist materials handling system for a renovation project to transport materials between the road level and the house 30 metres down.
The home renovation job taken on by J P Thew Constructions in Mosman on Sydney Harbour was 30m below road level with only steep stair access in place to transport materials up and down.
The renovation project required new materials to be lowered down to the site from road level while materials from the demolition of existing works also needed to be brought up to street level from the bottom of the site.
Unfortunately, the site had too many stairs to manually handle all the rubbish going up and new materials going down.
According to Michael Broome, National Product Manager – Lift & Shift at Coates Hire, the site was situated on the side of a steep hill and had three tiered levels with the house built above a pool on stilts making the navigation of materials very tricky.
J P Thew was aware of ladder hoist materials handling systems available from Coates Hire but unaware of the system’s capabilities.
After conducting a preliminary site inspection with the customer to determine the exact requirements, the Coates Hire Lift & Shift team at Ingleburn identified the ladder hoist solution as the most appropriate for the job at hand.
Mark Somers, Branch Manager – Ingleburn explained that the site had installation issues due to the height and slope, which meant all the work had to be done wearing safety harnesses and following stringent safety procedures.
Installation technicians Mate Kujundzija and John Gahan worked with the difficulties of the site to provide a faultless setup ensuring ease of operation for the customer.
